Jiyuu

Whereas English uses the same word for free beer and free-dom, Japanese actually makes a distinction between those two - "無料" free of charge, and "自由" free to do stuff. Yet, when we refer to software libre, we still say "free soft[ware]", with the notable Japanese twist that comes with saying stuff in Katakana. I recently came across a very personal experience regarding DRM, copy protection, and being, for all intents and purposes, accused of the intent to illegally distribute copyrighted content. This is my inaugural declaration in my fight against restrictive software, legislation, and technology.
